Frequently Asked Questions

    • What is Cremation?

Cremation is a process in which intense heat is used to transform the body back to its basic elements.  What remains in the cremation chamber is primarily bone fragments.  The bone is then processed into ashes, more commonly know as cremains or remains.

    • How do I know the remains returned to me are actually my pet?

We at Wasatch Family Pet Services believe every pet and owner deserve this security without the added trauma of having to view the cremation. In order to ensure that your pet is treated with the utmost care, all of our animals are tagged and tracked through the entire process.  The same tag will identify the animal throughout the process and will be attached to the bottom of the urn of your choice.  An animal can be issued a metal identification disc upon request of the owner. Your pet’s identification disc would remain with the body during the cremation process and is packaged along with the ashes inside of the urn.  We understand that your pet is a member of your family and deserves the very best.

    • How long does the cremation process take and when will I receive my pet’s remains?

Wasatch Family Pet Services makes every effort to have your pets remains returned to you in 2-3 business days from the date of pickup.   Additional time may be needed based upon the urn you choose and/or any custom engraving is to be done to the urn.  Your pets remains will be returned to your veterinarian, or upon request can be picked up from our facility.  Appointments are necessary.  Please call us with special requests.  We have, and will be happy to accommodate immediate needs.

    • In what type of container will my pet’s remains be returned?

Each cremation that the pet remains are to returned to the pet owner, is placed in an attractive cedar box enclosed within a satin bag.  We offer many other premium urns and can get any memorial product that you have found, usually at discount prices.

    • Can we pre-plan?

Yes. This is recommended and is easier to deal with prior to your pet’s passing. Arrangements can be made by contacting your local veterinary hospital.

    • What if my veterinarian does not offer the services of Wasatch Family Pet?

If your veterinarian does not offer Wasatch Family Pet Services, please call and we will help make the arrangements with you and your doctor.  We are mainly a pickup service.  We make regular pickups from many of the veterinary hospitals along the Wasatch Front.  We will accept drop offs at our facility, but by appointment only.

    • Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
